I've learned while taking this course that I underestimated mass communication, and it's way bigger than I thought it really was. There's more to mass communication than just writing and reading news. I've also learned that I really enjoy this idea of study, there's always something new happening and with mass communication it's always right there. From video to print to the web mas communication is literally everywhere and that's such a great thing. I definitely learned to appreciate print more than I did before I took this course. I thought that print was a dying breed of journalism, but I was surprised to learn that it's still up and running just like the web is. I am very thankful for this course, I believe it has definitely made me a better Journalist.

Video Media
Video media is such a great way to get news out to the people fast and efficiently. Since a lot of people these days use the Internet for almost everything, catching the news on a video is the easiest way to do so. With newspapers people must wait till the following day in order to hear about the news. But with the Internet and video media, they don't have to wait anymore. Youtube is a great way to see all different video media. People can video something on their phone and put it up on Youtube 2 seconds later. It's actually amazing what we can do these days with the technology that we have.
And besides, a lot of the lazy people of American today really don't want to read about the news that happens, they'd rather watch it anyways. Video media keeps everyone happy.
I don't believe video media is better than print because well, people can put videos up and it won't be the entire or true story but since its up early that's what people believe. With print, journalist make sure that their stories are up-to-date and true. I just believe that video media is more convenient.

Assignment
Making a website, wasn't as easy as I expected. There was a lot of other work I had to put in other than writing the assignment out. I had to think of the set up of the site and also pictures. I went on the internet and looked up some articles on CNN and some of them were plain and others were done very creatively. I figured, with the lack of experience, that my site was going to be quite plan. But regardless, I got the pictures and I did my set up which I believe is all my article really needed. Because no matter how pretty the site is, it's what is written that counts.

Binge drinking and test taking.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,589970,00.html
What an amazing study researchers have found! This article I found to be interesting, 1. because I am a college student 2. I do drink from time to time and 3. I really did believe that drinking the night before a test is a bad idea. This doesn't mean I'm going to start doing this, but I thought It'd be a funny article for the fellow students to read.
I think this is a good article because it is entertaining and it gives a lot of information. The information is not only about the study but also about the myth that go along with binge drinking the night before a test. The article states where the tests were being done and that the study is actually being published in April. It gives just enough information for the audiences to be captivated and entertained!

A month with the internet? NO WAY!!
A month without the web would be very difficult for me to do. I use the internet everyday, and without it I'd be pretty bored. I could see going a week or two without, but it'd be pretty pitiful. I'm not going to lie, I use facebook everyday. If I went a few weeks without it would be pretty tough because this website the key to all my social activities. A friends having a house party, facebook's there to send the invitation. A local charity is happening in a few weeks, facebook is there to tell me where and when. It helps me connect with friends from everywhere, and that's so convenient. What I use daily are facebook, youtube, google, hotmail, and occasionally myspace. Websites related to my track are Current TV, CNN News, and MSN News. If I had a go a month without the internet I guess I would turn to the good ol' newspaper, television, and books.

Project
The project that we did for class I found to be really enjoyable. I went to a local pet store and interviewed the owner and how she feels about local competition and what the store has to offer compared to other pet store.
The pet store was awesome, the pets were all in great shape and very happy. The puppies here looked so much happier and healthier than the puppies in Pet Zone located in Aviation Mall. Here at Puppy Paws, I could stay as long as I wanted to and could pet any puppy I wanted. I loved the interview so much I actually made a purchase myself.
I have a very small apartment and I've been looking for a pet to suit me and also the size of my place. When I walked in I saw the cutest female baby bunny, and after talking to the owner I decided to buy her. The coolest thing was that the actual bunny was free as long as I bought her cage and the kit that went with it. What a great deal right? I was going to buy the cage and accessories regardless, but offering the pet for free was great.
I wanted to do this article because I know a lot of people want to purchase puppies now that winters basically done. I see people walking their dogs and new puppies down the road everyday, and well if I can find a place where I know it's guaranteed, high quality, healthy pure bred puppies, I have to tell people where to purchase them. A dog isn't just another pet, they end up being like family, so people should purchase puppies where they know they've always been loved.

Are you consuming mercury?
http://www.naturalnews.com/028284_fish_mercury.html
The article I choice I found to be very interesting, which is the biggest reason why I choice it. If you read the article you will learn, that 291 of the fresh water streams in the United States that were tested, all the fish living in them are contaminated with mercury. That is so awful, especially for the animals and humans that are eating these fishes.
I found this to be a good article because it's very interesting, informative, and clear to the point it was making. It even gave information about mercury in case the audience didn't know enough about it. It also gave information about the research that has been going on concerning the mercury in the fish. This is very important to us because if we are eating these contaminated fishes then we could possibly run into health issues with our own bodies and even our future children.

In my area of track, Journalism, print media is found in books, magazines, and newspapers. I'm not a huge magazine reader, but I do enjoy books and sometimes the newspaper from time to time. These print medias are found in peoples daily lives everyday. I personally don't read that much printed media, if I want to read the news I just go online to my local papers site and read up. Web based media has definitely played a bigger role in my life then printed media. I think its because of my generation, everyone I know that is my age is well rounded on the Internet. I think since the web has played a huge part in mine and my generations daily lives that we have just grown accustomed to web based media. After reading some of the classmates response to my discussion about printed media being a dying breed, I know that it is not actually a dying breed but for me personally, I prefer web based media. It is just so much more convenient, my laptop is right on my lap and I can find anything on it right here and now.

In my opinion
There are a few things I believe need to be taken out from the commercial i put in my last blog. The nasty narrator needs to go, I feel he's the integrator in this whole thing. I find him to be annoying, and makes the audience feel that the women in the commercial is actually doing something wrong, when in reality shes not. Also, take away the bored, irritated attitude of the man that is with the women. The whole commercial needs an attitude switch. Instead of the man looking all pitiful, maybe make him seem happy he is with his significant other. To keep the product in the commercial, have the man checking his FloTV personal television but have the women possibly glance at it happily and then they carry on their shopping journey. If the commercial placed a more positive attitude, it makes everyone look good.

Superbowl Sunday was full of comical and interesting commercials this year. But one commercials I found to be rather sexist against females, particularly women who are in relationships with men, is the Spineless commercial by FloTV. This commercial shows a man being dragged around by his significant other while the football game is going on. Apparently if a man goes and spends time with their lover it's "Spineless."The commercials makes the woman look awful for taking her boyfriend or husband out shopping with her. The commercial makes, making your wife or girlfriend happy as a bad thing. So, hey, take FloTV with you everywhere you go so you can be more self-aborbed and not fulfill your womens needs even more, because apparently according to the commercial that's what really makes a man happy.

poor writing by the swedish
http://www.thelocal.se/7650/20070619/
I found an interesting and comical article about a 42 year old man from Sweden, who gets state benefits from claiming that him listening to heavy metal music as a disability. As interesting and funny the article was, I noticed a few things wrong with the writing. The writer uses a lot of quotes, but I found he forgets to use the quotation marks entirely. For example:
"I think it's extremely strange. Unless there is an underlying diagnosis it is absolutely unbelievable that the job centre would pay pay out. The writer forgot to put the last quotation mark after the period. It's also unclear who is saying what quotes.
Also, it talks about how the local (the website) talked to a psychologist about the matter. I would like to know what psychologist they talked to, and also what three psychologist said it was necessary for the man to listen to metal to avoid being discriminated against. What does discrimination and a disability have anything in common on why he needs to listen heavy metal?
I feel there are a lot of grammatical errors in this article. But even with the errors I still found it to be quite amusing, but I just wish it was written a little better.
